“I’m such a ‘look at the moon’ person”. – Unknown

New Moon is a time when the universe stops, breathes, and takes a moment to give us a chance to start afresh. New Moon is always a time full of strong energy, when the time for change hovers over everything like a faint, silvery mist, sometimes revealing things to us we weren’t even aware were hidden.

While even the whispered thought of change and new beginnings can be terrifying and can make us want to bury our heads in the sand, the changes we make don’t have to be big. Try to find some space in your day to read a book, listen to music, call a family member or even start a hobby you’ve always been interested in, but have never felt you had the time for. Conquer little personal goals that bring joy to your soul, light to your life and breath to your lungs. New beginnings don’t necessarily mean a completely new person, or job or routine. It can just mean little changes.

The New Moon on June 3rd, 2019 marks the beginning of a new 28-day cycle and falls under the sign of Gemini, the sign of the twins. In some cultures, the twins are identified differently. For example, in Arabian Astrology, they are thought to be twin goats. However, in the Western world, they are more often referred to as Castor and Pollux from the Greek myth of the same name.

Gemini is the sign that represents two different personalities – they can be communicative, ready for fun, and social, but also restless, thoughtful and serious. They are changeable and open minded, which can make them brilliant artists, particularly journalists and writers, and their flexibility can make them stand out in team sports and trades. Gemini is a fun-loving and inquisitive sign, with a wish to experience everything they can in the world.

On June 3rd, the New Moon in Gemini gives us an opportunity to commit to any personal goals, that brings forth the positive energy surrounding the twins. It is a time to improve our communication skills, by paying attention to others thoughts and opinions, and listening to different points of view, rather than finding that one person who can tell you exactly what you want to hear. Sometimes, more than one opinion can make the answer a lot clearer, as the different voices allow us to look from more than one perspective and makes us more open minded and less unadaptable to change.

With that in mind, this New Moon is a brilliant time to take a moment to look at the way we communicate with others and at our social skills; by taking note of how we take in information that make sure we communicate in an open, friendly and non-threatening manner. With the Gemini energy, we are encouraged to take the jump into making important changes in our everyday lives, that may not be considered large or ‘life changing’ but can have a positive effect on ourselves and those around us.

Gemini is the sign that revolves around a childlike innocence and the stories and love of best friends and of brotherhood and someone who may be your ‘other half’; whether that’s a romantic relationship or a platonic one. When you are with that one person, life gets a little easier. We laugh more, remember more, do more and love more.

Under the sign of the twins, take some time to communicate with other people. Call your best friends and let them know how much you love and appreciate them. Organise a night with your partner and eat good food and talk, whether you go out or spend the night in. Go out with your close friends, go for a drive to a coffee shop with your siblings and call your Mum. Sometimes, we are at our best when we surround ourselves with those we love, whether that’s around a campfire sharing a good, hot meal, or talking for hours over the phone.

This New Moon encourages us to do exactly that, to communicate and spend time with those close to us, to work on our social skills and to makes changes that are important to those who are important to us. But while being aware of others, never forget to make changes in your life to benefit you. Read that book. Try that recipe or start the hobby you always felt might be a bit hard.  Gemini is about listening to more than one opinion. The one in your head isn’t always right. Especially if it’s fear and doubt getting the best of you. Nip it in the bud and do what you’ve always wanted to do. The universe will applaud you. Your time is now.

At The Sound Temple, we welcome Kim Echammaal Coull to honour this Gemini New Moon on Friday 31st May 2019 with our New Moon Sound Healing session.
