Common Threads – Woven through Community
HANDS ON WORKSHOP
Sagging hemline? Busted zip? Missing button? Don’t chuck it…. Mend it!!
Bring your favourite piece of clothing along and allow the marvellous Morgan to teach you all the old-school secrets to mending that you’ve been waiting years to learn. This workshop will be a complete game changer. Put an end to throwing things out – learn how to fix, repair, sew and stitch new life back into old things – you’re going to LOVE it! Suitable for complete beginners to experienced sewers.
This is as much sewing boot camp as it is an opportunity to connect with others and get stitching in a beautiful environment.
Basic sewing equipment is provided, but please bring your own sewing kits if you have them.
Morgan Kay is a multi-disciplined artist who grew up in the Perth Hills. She has been working with textiles for many years, and creates quirky, one-of-a-kind pieces of wearable art, costumes, and fancy clothing. Sustainable fashion is a passion of hers, and this is reflected in her fascination and enthusiasm for recycling, up-cycling, and re-purposing fabric.
Morgan will be running workshops over the course of the month aimed at informing the community about the ecological impact of fast fashion products and what we can all do to effect change within the global fashion industry.
